Treatment Examples - Paper

Female Nude by Gaston Lachaise (1882-1935)

Graphite on wove paper

Surface cleaned (dry) to reduce grime in non-media areas.  Removed drawing from a thick, acidic, secondary mount board (had been mounted overall).  Reduced acidity, discoloration and a strong matburn line by bathing and careful application of bleaching solutions.  Lined overall with Japanese paper using dilute wheat starch paste.  A border was left when the Japanese paper lining was trimmed down to help facilitate framing.
